ORGANIC WOOL TOPPER PADS
Sumptuous Amish Hand-Crafted Organic 3” Wool Topper

If you’re looking for the ultimate sleep surface, a cloud like “melt into your bed” sensation, but do not want to part with your current mattress or futon, our Amish Organic Wool Topper Pad will add luxury and sumptuousness to any existing sleep surface, and turn your “ho-hum” bed into a bit of heaven. Our wool topper pads are Certified Organic New Zealand fleece, absolutely all natural, meaning the sheep from which our wool is sheared have grazed on land which is free from contaminants like pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers. Our wool is obtained from either Romney or Drysdale strains of sheep which produce genetically superior wool which is coarser, heavier, and therefore “springier”. This strain of wool is exceedingly difficult to find, and we are proud to offer it. The feed provided for these animals is all natural, certified organic, and the fleece which is harvested is sorted by hand, washed only with vegetable based soaps and not detergents, chlorine bleach or other chemicals. The end result: pure, unadulterated organic wool which has high lanolin content, as much as 4-6 percent rather than .5-1.5 percent, (lanolin is a substance secreted by the animal’s sebaceous glands and valued by humans for hundreds of years for its moisture repelling and insulating capacity) which acts as a natural dust mite repellant. They are handcrafted, sewn and tufted to prevent shifting and migration, by Amish

The outer covering, which is Certified Organic cotton percale, is simplistically designed with basic tufting to contain the wool layers inside. For care and maintenance, the topper needs to be placed outside once a year on a cool dry day, to allow for moisture evaporation and atmospheric ozone to refresh and revitalize it. To occasionally “poof it back up”, we recommend a sound thrashing and shaking from two people on either side of the bed, much as you would a down jacket to reinvigorate the wool. And, to prevent destruction from clothes moths, since there are no insecticides sprayed or added to our fibers, we highly recommend bundling up your topper pad and freezing it overnight in a reach down deep freeze (find a friend or relative who has one), or if you live in a cold climate, place it in the back seat of a vehicle overnight when the outside temperature is at least 15 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. This kills all the clothes moth eggs that may have been inadvertently laid on your topper pad during the warm season. Our organic wool topper pads are not inexpensive, both because of their unique, unadulterated naturally pristine contents, and because of the Amish resource for craftsmanship. The Amish women who craft these toppers do so lovingly and enthusiastically.

Provided as a free gift, we also ship for FREE our hypoallergenic mattress protector with every organic wool topper pad we sell. The cover is completely waterproof, ventilates, and is machine washable and dryable, and can even be medically autoclaved (sterilized). It provides a very comfortable surface upon which to sleep without detracting from the feel of the topper pad. Most importantly, it protects the wool topper from accidental liquid spillage. Please allow 3-4 weeks, as our wool topper pads are made by hand, as ordered. They are shipped UPS Ground only, and there is no rush shipping available.

The Mattress Topper Pad Mother Nature Would Want To Sleep On Herself

Wool is naturally flame retardant, more absorbent than any other material used in bedding components (the polar opposite of cotton, which wicks up moisture readily), and remains dry and cool in summer and warm in winter. If you’re a hot sleeper, you should highly consider this product.

Wool wicks away moisture better than kapok silk, cotton, goose down, and certainly any synthetic fibers or foam materials, and provides better, more restful sleep by controlling body temperature and heart rate. You will never find yellow perspiration stains on either a wool pillow or wool topper pad since the moisture is pulled away from the body. Because wool traps tiny pockets of air and provides exceptional cushioning, sufferers of fibromyalgia, aching bones, sciatica, hot flashes, diabetic pain, and back and neck pain, find relief in the cloud-like, cool, naturally ventilating, supportive and shock absorbing nature of wool. Many people who have tried air beds, memory foam, Pedic foam beds, gel foam, and innerspring mattresses have much better results with a wool sleep surface..and also, think about it…your body and your head are more intimately involved with your sleep surface than with any other substances except for the food and drink we take into our bodies...don’t you want these materials to be free of bleach and detergent residues, adhesives and formaldehyde, and other chemicals that off-gas fumes for an indefinite period of time?
